Peppermint Sugar Scrub

The kids and I have been battling colds over the weekend and it has left us all pretty drained. So, this week's crafts are going to be quick and easy things you can make in 5 - 10 minutes. Which considering that this is the last week before Christmas is just perfect. Can you believe that Christmas is next week!! So crazy.

Anyway, if you need some small, quick, last minute Christmas gifts, these peppermint sugar scrubs are perfect. They make great gifts for stockings, teacher gifts, neighbor gifts, etc. I'm going to be putting a couple in stockings and keeping one for myself. Hey, why not?

All you need are some mason jars (I like the wide mouth jelly jars, but any will do), sugar, peppermint extract, olive oil, and optionally coarse salt.

Fill your jar with sugar.

If you want, you can add some coarse salt on top. Not too much or it will absorb moisture from your skin, but a little bit helps open up your pores and the coarseness adds some extra exfoliating power.

Next pour in a couple drops of peppermint extract. Again, not too much. A little dab will do ya.

Cover with olive oil.

Mix well. You may need to add more oil as you go. You want the scrub to be slushie texture.

Add your lid and a little lit decoration if you want. I used some scrap Christmas fabric.

When you get ready to use it, you may need to stir again before use because the oil has a tendency to rise. That's easily done with your hands as you grab a little to use.

You can apply the scrub to your face or body; anywhere that needs a little exfoliation and moisture during these dry winter months.
