Asymetrical Ruffle Top Dress

I found the most adorable dress on Pinterest that I just had to make! A few weeks ago I made a Scrunchy Pillow Case Dress for my oldest daughter, so now it’s my younger daughter’s turn for a pretty breezy spring dress.

She’s so excited that Mommy made a dress for her.

This was my first experience working with knit fabric. I can see why some people have trouble with it; it wiggles around if you aren’t careful. Thankfully this pattern was pretty straight forward and easy sewing. I didn’t run into any trouble.

The pattern for this dress comes from Pretty Prudent. She said that the pattern is for a 2T, but I think it’s a bit larger. I wish I would have made this dress thinner in the waist, but that’s ok, it’ll be great for more than one season. My 5T kid can even wear this dress as a long shirt. Wow! They’re already sharing clothes!

The print is so fun and energetic chevron print fabric. It’s perfect for my fun and energetic 2 year old. It completely suits her personality! In fact, I had a hard time getting decent photos of her wearing this dress because I couldn’t get her to stand still long enough. Most of my pictures are a blur. But that’s my baby!

I finally gave her a piece of paper and a crayon to get a few still shots.

A view from the back. You can see that cute ruffle across the top just under all those curls.

Don’t put that crayon in your mouth sweetheart!

Have you started any spring sewing?
