I'm Ginger, a stay-at-home mom and DIY enthusiast. I love trying to do and/or make as much as I can myself. I've always had the 'crafty bug,' but never really embraced it like I am now. I am slowly teaching myself how to sew and totally falling in love with it. I crochet, but can't knit to save my life. And I love finding and preparing new recipes.
Being a mom of two sweet and energetic young ladies under 5, my time is often limited for crafting and whatnot. Life is busy and I am often searching for ways to simplify, organize, and manage my time so that I can give the best of me to my family while still finding some time for myself and this crafty blog that I love so much.
I'm also a follower of Christ. And while this blog isn't meant to be about my faith, it is inevitable that it's there. After all my relationship with Christ is the most important and significant one of my life.
Gingerly Made is my reflection on all things that I, Ginger, am making in my life. Obviously crafts, gardening, and food and maybe less obviously my family. If you don't believe that we 'make' our families, I urge you to reconsider. (Soap box alert) Stay-at-home moms like myself often lead hidden lives, but they have great sway on our family, our communities, and because of that, our world. I teach my children, and they teach me, how to behave, how to live, how to view the world around us, to have self discipline. I help them learn more than just colors, numbers, and ABCs. Yes, we make our families. And our families make us.
When I first began writing this blog it was called Big Dreams for a Simple Life because we have big plans to move out of the suburb community we are in and into more land without HOAs so we could radically change the way we are living. We want a large, like one acre, garden and chickens. We have dreams of building our own house with gray water systems and solar panels. While we still hold to those dreams and are actively saving so that we can eventually do it, those are long term dreams. And if something happens in regards to this big move, I will write about it. But I don't want to neglect the rest of my life. I don't want to miss what's happening now because I'm only focused on the future.
I hope that you find my blog entertaining and helpful. I welcome all comments, but ask that you please be respectful in your words. I can't wait to get to know you and learn more from you as well.
